[Jamming] MX-2300 Jamming PPD2_N1 and F2-50 at the same time

I am working on a MX-2300 that jams intermittently but mostly after the device has been sitting. Once you get it going it will run continuously for about 200 pages or so. Once you let it coll it will start to jam again.

    The F2-50 says:

Trouble content Detection is made by interruption of light in the sensor section of the projection rib on the drum drive gear to control the BK drum phase. The detection signal cannot be acquired and phase control cannot be made.

    Section PCU
Case 1 Cause Sensor connector connection trouble
Check and remedy Check the sensor connector connection.
Case 2 Cause Dirt on the sensor light emitting section, or installation trouble
Check and remedy Check for dirt on the sensor or check the installation state.
Case 3 Cause Drum drive gear upper rib breakage, sensor trouble
Check and remedy If there is no trouble in the rib, replace the sensor. (Use SIM30-1 "DHPD_K" to check interruption or transmission of light.)

I have checked the DHPD_K and it is lit when functioning properly. When jammed the DHP_K is not lit. I can't manually turn on or off the sensor to test it. But i am not sure if i am testing properly. any suggestions on how to test the sensor manually?

So far i have done the following:

-Checked BK drum to make sure CB was not flipped
-Checked Pri Belt for CB flipped
    -Replaced the secondary belt assm.
    -Replaced the Delivery Unit
    -Replaced the Fuser
-Cleaned all sensors that read the drums and Pri belt position.
-Checked and double check the PPD2 sensor and all seems fine. (the PPD2)N1 jam code only appears when the F2-50 code pops up)
-Removed reg assm. and cleaned and lubed bushings (spins up very smooth)
-Cleaned BK Drum light bar that runs adjacent to the MC Unit.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

parts book section 41(maindrive) item 24 . sensors for black drum and color drum. on main drive sensor on left is for black drum, also check the wiring for sensor. may be damaged, can't remember if it was flywheel or something else that cut wires. also the gear has a piece that goes thru the sensor, gear may be broken. might also be easier to replace complete drive unit as there were other issues depending on age and volume on copier.

I agree with this. I've seen this last year, the sensor was covered in dust. You might have to give it a wipe or a bit of a blow out.

yep pull the flywheels off and replace or clean drum phase sensors

Probably just dusty. I would help if they called it "phase detect PWB" or "DHPD_K". "Sensor PWB" could be anything.

That does look fairly unpleasant to get to. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks guys!! It was just a dirty sensor I Just couldn't find it. I was trying to clean the sensors i could see from the front of the machine. The sensor was fair easy to get to once i knew were to look.

I know this is an old post - but having similar issues -- what and where was sensor you ended up cleaning that solved problem?

If i remember right the sensor was accessed from the rear of the machine. swing the PCU out of the way and you will see the sensor behind it some where. I hope this helps.

Yes - I was able to find it - under the flywheels - THANKS - mine was clean but switched color and black sensors -- now will print in black but not color - so expect I have a bad sensor. Any suggestions where to get a new one? can't seem to find a part number for it.
