Can M277 DV units work in M257/317

    [Misc] Can M277 DV units work in M257/317

    We should have checked awhile back. Have a number of back up M277 DV units as well as Drum/Process assemblies. Realize M257/317 have a different part number but not certain re possibility of inter changability.

    Has anyone tried re the DV or the process units? I know for instance that the FN finishers will back retro fitfrom the M317 series to the M277 series but not other way around.

      The part number is definitely different, but only the last digit: CBOX-0001JS5K for Andromeda II versus CBOX-0001JS5G for the Andromeda I series.

      As odds go, there's a chance ... They look similar but have never had one side by side or tried to swap. =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          I would have to assume so, though it's not something I've tried. With Sharp part numbers, if the last digit changes it's likely just a production change and will very likely work.

              I would tend to agree re last digit. We have both types in field. Will have one of our techs swap around at a place that has both in next few days and will let you know what we find out.

                      I think it will work just fine you can switch them from all three generations of that copier. Drum holders you have to cut a notch out of the back and of course install the proper drum and drum shaft because the 257 is smaller.
