[Error Code] Sharp MX-4501n, Error code L4-11, shift motor/finisher problem?

We just purchased a Sharp MX-4501n at work, delivered and installed less than 24 hours ago. We've had four paper jams so far, and its currently showing an error code L4-11, "call for service". I've spent the last couple hours trying to Google some answers, which led me to this site. The code appears to deal with a finisher and/or shift motor issue. I did find another thread on here with the same error, which was resolved by connecting an external finisher, but it doesn't appear we have one. Can anyone advise before I call for warranty service? IT guy here, but not too knowledgeable with freestanding office copiers. Much appreciated in advance.

yep shift unit error. I will ask the obvious why not call service if under warranty?

Perhaps you bought this machine off some auction site, with the standard 5 minutes, 5 miles warranty? Most likely the problem was there right at the beginning and you bought it with the machine. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I'd agree with harleyrider, call your authorized service technician.

This error primarily occurs when an internal finisher is installed but not connected, there are pins to hold the shift motor in place; the motor is disabled while the finisher is connected, but when disconnected will attempt to shift and hit the pins, causing a very loud grinding noise and the error message you received.
