    Frontier faxing

    Have a client that would like to fax legal size paper. It keeps cutting off 3" and believe it is thinking it is letter paper. Really would like to get it to figure out paper size on its own.

    I have been able to get it to copy to the correct paper size but I cannot get the fax to determine the correct size.

    Am I missing something?

      Without length sensors in doc feeder, I believe you have to tell machine what the original size is.
      I don't think there are sensors in the paper path that reads the beginning and ending of a page, but I haven't researched that yet.

          Most machines with fax functionality are defaulted to detect the original size of only the first original, then assume that all following originals are the same size. You see, detecting the size of each original slows down the scanning process. On most MFP's you can enable a function called Mixed Originals, which means that it will check each original for size, but will be just a little slower scanning.

          So most likely the cover sheet is LTR-R and the rest of the sheets are LGL. The machine assumes that all the pages are the same size as the first (LTR-R), then clips the last 3" from each following page.

          Another option is to print up some legal sized cover sheets. =^..^=
          If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                  The MXC311 has an auto detect size feature, just be sure the original size when in the fax screen is set as such.

                  The MXC312 on the other hand, does not have auto detect size; quite the pain in the ass for the customers to have to specify legal every time.
