    Address Book Size

Working on an MX-3501N and a customer has seemed to have reached the maximum number contacts allowed in the address book. There are 999 contacts entered and this particular customer would like to primarily enter many more fax numbers. Is there a work around or a way to increase the number of entries allowed? More memory or a programming tweak? Perhaps someone has an idea or solution they would be willing to share. We have entered contacts into groups but that does not free up any space.

If the copier is on their network they could try the lan fax driver, it has its own address book; I don't believe it has a limit.

Either that or setup LDAP, and have the device search the LDAP server.

It's a two man office operation without a true server or LDAP. LAN fax driver? Will search idnc for that.

Sharp call it a PC-Fax driver, can be found on one of their driver sites. Allows you to print a document directly to the fax unit, sending it over the fax line. You can create multiple address books with multiple addresses each, a lot more than the machine can hold internally.

On the Sharp IDNC site I don't see any instructions on how to operate the pc-fax. I downloaded the driver but don't see literature on use.

just install as a printer. then when you "print" to the pc-fax driver, a window pops up where you enter phone number and also can setup the address book. also should be in user guide.

fax kit, but in his original post ," user wanted to add many more fax numbers" made the assumption there was a fax kit involved.

Yes, fax kit was the original intent I garnered from OP's post, however at the mention of PC Faxing I just made it noted that PC faxing requires the MXFWX1 PC Fax expansion kit.

that is the internet fax kit, plain pc-fax just requires the fax kit. to pc-internet fax you need internet fax kit.

I stand corrected. Can you tell I've never had to install one?

when I was at the K company in the late 90's early 2000's internet fax was kinda of hot for all of 5 minutes. I don't know anyone that uses internet fax now. send a fax or send an email. we can screw everyone up and throw in inbound routing into the mix.

The local cash stores here actually do internet faxing on their Samsungs. They were every bit as confused as I was when they first found out about it.
