    [Error Code] Sharp MX-2600 L4-16

Hi everyone I arrived at work this morning and the fans on the machine were running at high speed and the display had a massage that said L4-16. I turned the copier on and off it reset I ran some copies went to my desk and heard a click click click and the code was back. I thought maybe that one of the gears on the fuser was off a tooth so I removed the cleaner roller and played with the pressure gears. I than reinstalled the fuser on warmup it made its normal one click and came to ready. A few minutes later it went click click click and code was back. I then played with the motor and the spider gears. Ran some copies a few minutes later it went click click but no code it did go into sleep mode. it looks to me like the pressure gears are over driving or not stopping when they should. Any ideas , been a long day and I hope everyone has a great night.

Thanks in advance, sorry about grammar, I am a tech.

sounds like the sensor has gone bad from heat exposure, detects pressure on/off for the fuser. On release motor/gear assembly attached to front frame. Part number VHPGP1A73AR-1 (upgraded part number), we've changed a few.

Look for a broken pressure spring or a cracked "half" gear in the fuser.
Also check the fuser drive gear and pin through the frame.
SIM 6-6 to check the action, 30-1 to test the HLPCD sensor.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

How about a broken pressure release actuator. I had one on Friday. I'm still wondering why this happened. When I work the fuser by hand and the gears depress they "snap" into position which throws the actuator up into the plastic fuser housing. Is there something I am missing, this doesn't seem right? Thanks in advance

Hi sorry that I have not gotten back to you. I have not ordered a sensor yet but today I cleaned the sensor with alcohol put it back together. I did this in the last twenty minutes but it seems to work fine now. I will keep you posted if anything changes.

            Thank you for the info.

Problem returned so I ordered new sensor today. By the way registration sensor from sharp 237 does not work.

Like Toner Boy said they have updated that sensor to take the heat better some 4 years ago.

Thanks Toner Boy sensor arrived this morning. I appreciate you solving my problem. Sharp did a nice job of hiding that section in the parts manual.

been having this same code on one of our mx-2600 for 2 weeks or so now... all we have had to do is power cycle the machine to clear the code. As time went on the code came more often, finally too often for the machine to be used, we swapped entire fusers, then reseated all wire connections to the pressure release motor, and cleaned the sensor. the problem remained after all attempts. finally replaced the sensor with a new old style sensor today...will see if that fixes problem if it does we will order the new style and replace it.

I have had the pressure release motor go bad on a couple of these.

I actually ordered the sensor and the whole assembly. I figured that it was a matter of time before a motor or one of those gears broke.
