    Summertime Sharp

Had a few calls the past 2 weeks at this roofing company. One call all winter for dirty glass, but it is hot and humid once again...let the good times roll!!!

Last week it was a flipped blade on the IT belt. The office is literally 90+ degrees without any AC. I explained last week, that this machine will NEVER run properly in that type of scenario. Not to mention that you could squeeze a glass of water from the paper. Of course I get the usual roll of the eyes we all know and love.

So today they call back, description is no color on a C402SC. Arrive on site, and there is no color; also F2-45 in the error log. Seeing the code I know I need a procon assembly. Go into 44-2 and it fails right away. So I pull out the procon and this is what I find:
    procon1.jpg procon2.jpg
How do you like your procon ...well done please.
And even after I show the customer this, I STILL get the eye roll....classic Monday!

WOW! That's definitely a first. I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a component melting from environmental heat. I'd be willing to bet you're the first in North America to have this happen!

Lol, call came in for yellow streaks on this machine. I am heading there in the morning; wonder what will be melted this trip?

To cover my bases, I think I'd print off the environmental specs for the enduser, and be sure to comment about the environment in the call comments. I've got a pocket temperature/humidity sensor just right for this call. You may need to void the service contract at some point. I don't think this qualifies as normal wear and tear. At least this would lay the groundwork for a billable call the next time. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

sharp has Tip on this TT-20213, that the resist sensor unit(procon ) can warp or sensor can fail. "if proper spacing is not provided around machine" Right, the resist sensor unit fails or melts because it sits right below the fantastic fuser unit.

Sharp calls it the resist sensor unit, don't know why, had one fail on c311, sits right below fuser, had f2-45 error , cover on unit was warped. I don't think there is anything protecting it from the heat of the fuser. If I remember correctly take out transfer unit remove fuser , 1 screw and cn ? on resist unit and it comes out.

The yellow DV unit was streaking due to "poor environmental conditions". Good thing I brought one with me.

I have replaced several of these but NEVER that warped. It is usually the gray cover that gets warped, that one looks like lava ran over it. Anytime I see the F2-45 mentioned above, it is time for a procon assembly

Blackcat: 44-14 will tell temp and humidity inside and outside the machine. I also have a pen thermometer that comes in very handy.
