MX2600n print quality problem (fading black)

    Hi,

I just got a used MX2600n printer. It has done almost 80.000 b/w copies and 57.000 color copies.

It seems to be working fine, but black is giving problems:

Other colors print just fine. What could this problem be related to? I already used the cleaning sticks, but that didn't help.

    Thank you for your help!

    Kind regards,
    Bart

Looks like developer depletion; replace the dev and possibly dev unit.

Please take a Look about the drum.
Loosing Developer comes with an blank polished drum surface.
Change the drum- Unit or replace the mk and drum .
      Then the developer.

Thank you for the replies! I've ordered developer and will try that first, as it's the cheapest to try.

I'll let you know the outcome!

I 'd would change all 3 together. Drum, developer, and charge kit. Save yourself a headache from going back and recalibrate, 50-22, 50-28, 46-74 and naturally dv adj 25-2 first.

Your color maintenance cycle is 3000 pages from expiring. Your black maintenance cycle is 20K from expiring, of course the rotational time probably expired long ago for a machine of that age and your drum PM kits (blades in particular) are probably on the verge of failing. I would install 4 drum PM Kits as a minimum (along with black developer) to try and put off problems for a while. You won't like the color developer price...

I replaced the black developer and now it's printing excellent. Thanks all for your help!

I realise that the maintenance cycles are nearby, but my printing volume is very low (less than 10k pages/year). I bought this printer cheap on an auction as a (perhaps temporary) replacement for my Lexmark X782 which has scanner problems and its toners/drums need to be replaced (which are quite expensive).

What would you advise? Is it worth replacing the drums, blades and color developer? Is there something else that needs to be replaced soon?
