Does anyone else have a problem with Hole Punch Motor codes when using a FN2 finisher? We seem to have a problem when these are connected and they are using a security kit. It might be coincidence but this is the third machine like this. Could it be a firmware issue?

The hole punch on the AR-F15 & F16 on the Dragons have been problematic. I'm sorry, I don't remember the model# of that punch. I forget what the actual code is. I know it was punch shift home position. The first few I would end up replacing every part on the punch & it still errored. After the first few, we would just replace the entire punch unit.
I haven't seen this same problem on the FN2s.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

You mean the MX-FNX2 finisher. This is the saddle-stitch finisher for the MX2300 to MX4500 series machines. The internal finisher is the MX-FNX1.
The MX-FNX2 finisher can take 4 diferent punch modules AR-PN1A to AR-PN1D (each has a different punch position).
It is the same finisher as the AR-F13 (Whale series), just different outside covers & longer legs!! (taller stand to fit taller machine).
As the punch modules are not standard feature in the MX-FNX2 finisher, make sure they are installed properly as per installation manual.
I have seen many of these finishers with & without the punch modules on Whales, Pastels & C-Jupiters and they seem to be fine. They have given me very little trouble.
As with all MX machines, make sure all Firmware is up-to-date. This always helps. This is not a Security Kit issue at all. Please give more info on your problems.Comment

If it is the internal finisher you need to be very careful when installing the punch unit. You can bend the guides out of alignment and it will cause you all kinds of issues. I have had no problems with Sharp punch units in any model series that were not related to me putting it the unit in slightly off kilter.
Good luck!Comment
