I have a new (within 3 mths) MX-C402sc that is dusting the transfer belt with yellow toner, which causes yellow background on prints/copies. This is intermittent. At first we thought short in the drum unit causing dv pull and eventually over tone, but we replaced supplies and within 2 weeks issue returned. Again yellow only. Anyone else run into this or have an idea as to cause? Thanks Paul

Re: MX-C402sc dusting yellow
Did those supplies include the scorotron and grid? Those are the usual cause of pulling developer. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: MX-C402sc dusting yellow
They don't without tech running the toner density(25-2) and clearing the dv/drum counts 24-5/7; perhaps you're thinking of another machine."You can't trust your eyes, if your mind is out of focus" --Comment

Re: MX-C402sc dusting yellow
Section 9-1 subsection B quote below:
B. Toner density initial setting
When the developer cartridge is replaced, the initial setting of the
toner density is automatically executed.
If another simulation is executed or the machine power is turned
OFF during execution of this simulation, the initial setting of the
toner density cannot be executed normally. Therefore, never operate
the machine until the initial setting of the toner density is completed
(the machine enters the print (copy) ready state).
Forgot subsection A also:
A. Counter reset (MX-C402SC/C382SC)
(1) MX-C402SC/C382SC
When the developer cartridge, the drum cartridge, the primary
transfer unit, the secondary transfer unit, or the fusing unit is
replaced with a new one, the initial detection function operates after
turning ON the power to reset each counter automatically.
When the machine is initialized during warming up, or when the
simulation is executed or the machine is turned OFF and the door
is opened before the machine enters the print (copy) ready state,
the initial detection function may not operate normally. Therefore,
never execute the simulation or never operate the machine such as
turning OFF the machine power and opening the door before the
machine enters the print (copy) ready state after replacing one of
the above parts and turning ON the power.
When the counter is not automatically reset, it must be reset manually.
Since the maintenance counter (total) and the maintenance
counter (color) are not automatically reset, they must be cleared by
executing SIM24-4.

Re: MX-C402sc dusting yellow
When you replaced the dev units, you had "please wait do not turn power off" and then when it completed it changed to "Install toner cartridge" If you didn't see these messages (when dev is replaced before its time) the auto density did not take place probably. did the dv count go back to zero. when maintence time you have message of change supplies developer cartridge, when dev cart is changed it should do auto density as long as no other setting or such is done, and change supplies message should clear if not auto setting was not done then 25-2 needs to be done manually. also if 26-55 is set it should go into auto color calibration also or you would have to do 46-74.Comment

Re: MX-C402sc dusting yellow
If I was to replace dv early I would run 25-2. My 2 cents worth. I wouldn't trust auto.Comment
