    Expert Technician.

I was repairing a Sharp MX-M503N in an school when i met an expert technician. I don't know if he's a Pakistani,Indian,Bangladesh or Sri Lanka. He ask me if what is my expertise, I reply to him that i'm a technician and not expert one. I tell him that I've been a technician since mid of 90's.He reply you must know very well all the machine and an expert because your a technician for a long time. I tell him how do you define an expert technician? He said the one who is repairing all the machine without a problem. I ask him do you repair a machine without a problem? He smile, I don't know if it's yes or no.... I tell him that in 90's the machine you will only isolate is the copier. Now you have a multi-function MFP (Copier, Printer, Scanner and a fax) plus the network and a bunch of users who constantly ask you what time you will finished to repair the machine. so how can you be an expert with it?! I tell him that machines are constant evolving not only in function, physical appearance but also in electronics. He then ask me what brand of machine I was repairing and tell him a Sharp model. He said that Ricoh machines are far better than Sharp maybe simply because he is a Ricoh technician. Then he look at the machine i am repairing he said that his machine 622 is better. I tell him how do you say it is better? because it is more than 700K copies in the same school. I let him see the meter reading of 503 and he walk away. Maybe he don't want to talk to me anymore or he just don't believe that the Sharp 503 have a 4.5 Million copies.

Gentlemen Just sharing, no discrimination of any nationality or expert technician...
    Just a humble Filipino technician...

That's a funny story. No boasting required. The meter tells the whole story. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

The time when experience counts is coming to an end. All the brands are good and getting better (I sometimes wonder about Konica Minolta's last couple of attempts at an A4/Letter based machines). The trick now is how effective your are at getting the right information to get the job done. I believe you can become an expert at how you approach problems, submission to the problem at hand works. I can't be boastful because there is always someone who would kick your ass at the thing you think you do best.

I have learned that this is a job that requires a humble approach and hard work. Most of my day is spent as a cleaner and delivery boy. But still doing this 8 to 10 hours of the day with our nature it will turn into a bit of a pissing contest especially at the training venue.
