I've got a Sharp MXB201 that is distorting the fax line monitor. I've already updated firmware, did an 88-3 fax clear, replaced the fax pwb, speaker, and harness, and I even put the new fax pwb on a different machine and still have the same issues. The customer uses a long distance code, so they have to hear the prompt to input their code, but they cannot hear it. Its not the phone line. I've tested with a phone, and a samsung fax and its clear as a bell. Brought the copier in shop, and even on our fax line I still get a distorted monitor. Any suggestions?

Are you using a 2 wire phone line ? Anything more than two has generated odd problems on multiple manufacturers equipment for me. -

Yep. 2 wire on location and here in our office. Our dealer has a tech support line and I was told to double check the lines.Comment

We have probably over a hundred of these out and all have crappy line monitor. Also have issues of memory filling up and locking machine until TC 66-10 clear.Comment

The issue was that a vocal prompt (asking for a long distance code) had a much lower volume than the dial tone. Basically, nothing can be done.Comment
