The machine is connected to the wall outlet with static ip but it doesnt get any response and the nic lights is not flashing. however if i connect to it via laptop using a crossover cable the lights starts flashing and i can ping / connect to it. I have confirmed that the wall outlet is not the problem.

Re: mx5112 weird network connectivity issues
It's probably not the copier unit. I would try 2 things. First wheel it over to a different wall outlet and try a different Ethernet cable and see if you still cannot connect to their network. Also try a crossover cable if that step did not work (had this happen one time where a regular Ethernet cable would not work but a crossover cable would). Go figure.... Depending on the results let us know and we can try some other things that might be appropriate to your issue.
Good luck

Re: mx5112 weird network connectivity issues
Plug your laptop into their network, check for link light and internet access.
As mentioned about duplicate IP addies, unplug the network cable from the machine and ping the copiers ip addy from a workstation on the network. If you get a response, it is from something other than your machine.
To check the machine:
Run the internal ping command (127.0.0.1) logged in as admin in Network Settings. If it cannot ping itself, you most likely have a bad MFP board.
Check the device name. I leave it as the default mumbo jumbo. It does not seem to like symbols and punctuation marks so much.
Check the DIMM chips on the MFP boards. SIM 60 to test the chips.
Clone the device and run SIM 67-17, print controller memory dump, re-clone.
Rinse and repeat.
Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!Comment

DIMM chips was okay. Didnt try 67-17 not really understand what u meant. Btw i noticed now the nic lights flash 2 times when the machine starts and then it goes black.Comment

Re: mx5112 weird network connectivity issues
Maybe you have a partially mis-wired network connector at the wall, and the laptop can overcome it. What about the crossover cable and laptop? That's the ultimate test. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: mx5112 weird network connectivity issues
I think There is a Problem with the autosensing for networkspeed .
Try to fix the networkspeed with Sim 55-03 sw 6 .
bit 1 from 0 to 1 autosensing Off
bit 2 : 0= 100 , 1= 10
bit 3 : 0 = fullduplex 1= halfduplex
bit 4 : 0 = 100 , 1 = 1000
we have a Lot of machines fixed with These setting.

Re: mx5112 weird network connectivity issues
Chances are it is either a miswired wall mount or a bad switch on the router/hub. Have had this happen a few times. Like said previously double check it at another port in the office and you already tested it via crossover cable so there is nothing more for you to check really. Its on their network side.Comment
