    Sharp's New Touch screens

Ok I would just like to ask any other Sharp techs out there of their opinion of Sharp's new generation of touch screens i.e. MX2314, 2610, 2640, 3110, 4112 etc....
Has anyone else experienced problems with them being unresponsive or just very laggy and slow to respond? Then without actually doing anything to the machine it will miraculously work till you are 10 miles from the place.
Tried all the usual remedies that Sharp recommend new firmware, backdating firmware, formatting / rewriting SD card or HDD where applicable, checking connections but nothing seems to help.
The only success I have had was on a MX2314 that just would not work consistently so we swapped out the whole keyboard and we have not heard from it since, my only bugbear is that when I tried the faulty keyboard on one of our showroom m/c it bloody worked!! well for a week anyway now its showing the same problem again.
Does anyone have an answer or any ideas?

I have also seen more than one fixed by replacing the keyboard after firmware and other things failed. I am curious if unplugging the keyboard would fix it? Most of my customers never use it anyway. The keyboards work fine until they lock up...

My opinion of the new touch screens would contain too many bad words to be very helpful, so I'll just say that I've had a number of these that I've had to calibrate the screen right out of the box and even more that I've have to do regularly in the field. That seems to remedy most problems, at least for a while.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

I'd really like to know about the 'lag' response as well. Seems completely random most times, but mostly when the machine is just 'waking up' - takes a while to shake the cobwebs out of its head. Annoying that they come out with a touch screen they are so proud of yet the damn thing causes more questions and phone calls than I can stand.

We have turned off Wsd under print port settings , and the screen has been more responsive.

May have to take a look at that option.

I don't know if this has to do specifically with the touch screen or not, but we have discovered that the Sharps have only 1 communication bus to the main controller board. What we have found this means is that the copiers can only handle 1 task at a time and sometimes if something is trying to operate in the background while you are trying to operate the ops screen it lags, badly. It's not so much a problem with the screens but with the capabilities of the main controller to handle multiple command requests.

New released firmware for Aries and 4111/5111 series supposedly addresses this issue (?): Modification for the problem of occasional slow key response on Image Send screen.

I have found doing a 62-10 (?) job log clear often makes some of these machines more responsive.
