    Virgo heads up

I have a few Virgos we got cheap because of broken displays/touch screen from lease returns.
The slide out keyboard was dead (no LEDS) on one machine after display was replaced.
I tried everything short of the PCU board, and the firmware updated to the 8.2 version.
It was cloned from an identical working machine, so I thought all my settings would be good.
I started hunting for items to check, or change, and somehow came across this setting
under System Settings – Operation Settings “Key Touch Sound at Initial Point”.
I put a check mark in the box, and the keyboard started working (verified by un-checking
and the keyboard was inop). What is that function, and why would the kbd work on a
machine with no check mark there? There must be something else causing this symptom.
Have you heard of this, if so, please enlighten me?
I am going to leave it as is with the check mark, and give machine a full going over operation wise.
    Have a great weekend.

Spoke too soon, keyboard is not working whether checked or not, back to square one - bummer, ruined the weekend. (:

Tried a known working keyboard without a change.

I did a little searching, and there's a member here that has some considerable experience on this inoperative keyboard issue:

Maybe he can help you. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

if you have replaced the USB conv pub and keyboard, then replace mother-hub pub. have had this pwb fail, has the USB hub on it for keyboard and USB ports, check electrical section in service manual.

That was the first board I tried from a working machine, and then the MFP. Neither helped, until I put a check in the box mentioned in the op. It worked until I went to show a tech, and then I shot myself in the foot. I regret posting too soon, but I want to thank you all for your help. I'm beginning a new start for the long weekend (working on the cold ones), and will try again on Tuesday.
              Cheers everyone!!!

Sorry for not posting the repair earlier; the problem was the cable to the USB converter pwb had a broken 5 volt wire that was intermittent.
This is the 'scissor' cable (p/n DHAI-4704FCPZ) that flexes when the keyboard is slid out.
