I have a mx-m753 copier with over 1.4 mil copies on it. I got a call today of 4 bars or thick lines intermitently on copies when I arrived I found something ive never seen before, 4 engine generated lines on a 2 sided copy. The person who made the copies was gone for the day but I was told that they were copies not prints, and that there was a batch of about 100 copies being made and in the middle of the batch there was about 20 with these lines on them. The originals were run portrate thru the machine and the lines are going vertically(in portrate mode) so they are generated by the engine not a optic or corona caused event, and you can see it is pictulated like a grey scale on a test target and on all copies they appear on they are in exact same place. I attached a copy of the lines with post. I have cleaned all scanner optics and mirrors, and the internal slit glass, inspected unit and found nothing out of the ordanary, all my test copies show good image quality and no sign of the lines, i made over 100 2 sided copies and over 50 single sided ones. The cust told me it hasnt happened again since the firast time. I have never seen a issue like this before and any input will be appreciated, thanks, Jim

The last time I saw this was on a cougar machine and it was the scanner lamp causing it years ago. -
Re: sharp mx-m753 "bars on copies"
My vote is for the laser, and the next time you get called in it will be for noise or a laser code. Most of the bad lasers that I've seen have been for coding out, but a few Cougars have given some very interesting black lines of varying thickness crossfeed, usually accompanied by an airplane-like noise. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
