Toshiba e studio 3530 C error CF 90 laser shutter & 3 of 4 drum units wont come out??

    [Error Code] Toshiba e studio 3530 C error CF 90 laser shutter & 3 of 4 drum units wont come out??

    Hi Guys, this machine presented itself to me that the customer called and said the display asked for the windows to be wiped. i see that it displayed to clean the laser glasses and a pm 0088 was due. it made a few nice looking copies in both black and white and color. i ran the cleaning tool in the 4 slots and tried to remove the drums. only the middle cyan would come out. i pulled on them some and they wouldn't come out. then i turned the thing on and it made a couple copies that had large 4 or 5 inch blank bands on the copy. after a few of these, i tried to open and remove the drums again. then it coded out with the CF 90. and now wont come to ready ever. keeps making a slight chattering sound and shows a CF 90. Intravia book shows a laser shutter malfunction. i see that the shutter mechanism is half way open or most of the way, but i can only move the outside rail that appears to hold the 4 shutters a little and it goes back. does anyone have any ideas what might have happened, weather the drums are stuck on the shutters, and if there is a fix for either of these issues. mainly the non working machine?

      Hi:

      Are you lifting the blue release lever to the vertical position. If not then that is the problem. There is one fixing screw locking it in a horizontal position. You didn't say weather you had any experience on this model. Once you do that the drum/ dev units will slide out.

          Hi, yes, screw removed, the "blue handle" is rotated counterclockwise to vertical. otherwise, none of the drums come out.

              there are screws that hold the drums in, some one left one out that's why you can get the one drum unit out,(most techs just leave them out) look inside the holeson the colored covers on the front of the drum unit you will see the screws im talking about

                  thank you very much Luther. i did take one or two of the outer drum covers off and there wasn't anything under there, but i will check real good. do you have any idea why the CF90 code came up after using the laser cleaning tool that is stored in the front cover? i do really appreciate your help and advice. have a nice evening, Jim

                      Now that you've got the imaging units out, remove the laser unit, then the laser shutter assembly.

                      I've seen two different situations. If you've have one or more of the developing units dumping developer, It will dump right into the laser shutter assembly and prevent it from moving. Also, the position of the laser shutter is detected by two of those delightful Sharp 73 photointerrupters that have proven to be so unreliable. Keep in mind that the gear timing of the sensors to shutter movement is critical. If for some reason you choose to disassemble the gear drive, make timing marks on the gears before disassembly. =^..^=
                      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                          thank you very much Luther/. i did find the screws, and you were right. one was left out. i looked right at it. it was really a hard month, tough week and not to mention the day. thank you for your input. i really appreciate it.Jim

                              thank you very much Blackcat 4866. as i pulled the drums out, the black unit was stuck on something. when i relized what it was, it has two units where the charge cleaning rod was missing the green handle on the end. that unit somehow had the rod just inside the drum housing cover and was binding. when i got it out, i checked the laser shutters and they suddenly moved over. i reinstalled the 4 drums and it fired up like Don Prudoms nitro dragster. so, it must have been hitting that plastic rod. thank you very much for the input. i really appreciate that. i was able to save my pride. as i mentioned to Luther, who also guided me to what i missed at the securing screws./ i have had a hard month and am finding that i just am not as equipped as in the decades past to deal with so much. so thank you for the help. have a great day, Jim
