question for Luther and Blackcat4866 re toshiba estudio 3530c toner sensor error C390

hi guys, that machine you helped me on ran 500 pages after i replaced the cyan drum cleaning blade. now it is throwing a C390 for a cyan toner sensor. i pulled out the sensor and removed some developer from behind it. reassembled and it ran a color copy and then said it was toning up and then threw the code again. then i rebooted it and it ran a color copy, said it was toning up and then ran 5 copies and seemed fine. there is cyan toner in there. this is a new customer so i dont know what supplies they have been using or what. but the machine has a total count of 48429. would you suspect a bad toner density sensor mounted on the bottom of the dev unit or what??

the machine is also showing a pm 0088 is due. my Intravia book doesn't show any pm codes so wondering if you might know what that is pertaining to.

thanks very much again for the help, Jim

Re: question for Luther and Blackcat4866 re toshiba estudio 3530c toner sensor error

    The manual suggests:

    1) Is the developer unit installed correctly? (specifically the connectors)
    2) Check CN340 on the logic board.
    3) Check for toner or other foreign matter in the connectors.
    4) Replace toner sensor.
    5) Replace logic board.

Preventative Maintenance 0088 means that the black drum and black DEV-KIT are due for replacement. So it's unrelated to your cyan toner sensor code.

If it were me, I'd bring a bag of cyan developer. I'd remove the cyan image unit and check to see if the developer seals have been leaking or the developing roller seals and bearings are worn. If all those looked OK, I would dump the developer and vacuum the cyan developing unit. I would further investigate the cyan developing unit for faults. If I still could not find a major fault, I would install the cyan developer. Leave the cyan toner cartridge out, and run the following simulations:
sim 6S-2 to reset developer count.
sim 05-203 to stir the cyan developer. Press OK to store setting.
    re-install cyan toner cartridge.
    sim 05-396 image quality control
    sim 05-4719 color registration
sim 05-4Fax to print gamma chart1
sim 05-1642 to scan and record chart1. Press Enter to store setting.
sim 05-70Fax to print gamma chart2
sim 05-1008 to scan and record chart2. Press Enter to store setting.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

thank you very much Blackcat4866. i had the cyan imaging unit out and didnt see any spilling. but i didnt separate the dev unit from drum unit. i will suggest that to customer and see what they agree to. thank you very much for the great advice. have a great weekend, Jim
