    Test mode not working

    Hello

I have an es4540c. I am having trouble getting the scan to email set up. The tech entered the 08 mode to run the 9083 code to reset the nic card. When he pressed initialize the machine did not respond. The word initialize did not go away. He tried entering other modes and had no response. Unfortunately he did not get the firmware level while there. Any thoughts before I have someone head back?

    Thank you in advance

    Re: Test mode not working

It sounds like a new installation, yes?

This particular series of machines is fairly sluggish in entering service mode, authenticating, and especially with an aftermarket authentication device like Papercut. That being said, if it's locking up entering service mode you may have a failing hard drive. The Wipe Technology drives are especially vulnerable to damage from improper shut downs. Or you can re-load the firmware, but if it won't enter 08 mode, you won't be able to initialize the firmware.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

He was able to get the machine into the 08 mode but when he entered the 9083 to initialize the nic nothing happened. He then tried checking the error code history with 8999 the screen does not change. Any thoughts?
