I have a 6540 I brought in to the shop. I'll send a print job, the data light will go solid green. Then the panel locks and then it reboots. Any ideas before I start throwing parts at it?

Re: estudio 6540c locks up, reboots
Is there a department code set up? =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: estudio 6540c locks up, reboots
Thanks for the reply BC. No department codes set up. It has also locked up on me exiting the UI. It seems to also happen more often printing larger files. The data light will blink for a while then go solid green, then the panel locks up and reboots about 45 seconds later. I erased, formatted the HD and loaded current firmware. Same problem. At the end of the day I took another ADI-HDD from a known good 5540 and got an F106-5 code. Will 3C it when I get in in the morning. Other manufacturers I have worked on, a bad HD causes weird problems including rebooting.Comment

And just as a reminder, you can't swap HDD's from another machine with that series. They have the Wipe technology on them so only a brand new HDD will work. That's why you got the F106 error. It makes the troubleshooting process costly if it turns out not to be the HDD but that's all part of the fun when working on eBX Toshiba's!Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?Comment

That's good news! Maybe US region sells regular HDD? Up North we're stuck with the proprietary single-machine HDD's. Glad you got it sorted out.Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?Comment
