    e-Studio 3510c, totally washed out image...

    Machine (according to the meter anyway) has only 23K on it. Copies/prints totally washed out, but especially the Black. I get some color out when I choose full color, but even it is very faded. I'm thinking the Black unit is just dead (Dev and Drum) but I am not familiar enough with this machine. There are also what look like several "blade lines" which are red and blue (Mag and Cyan) going top to bottom on a regular Letter size page. I think the machine just sat for too long and all the supplies went south.

    Bottom line, I'm likely to be doing a Black Unit PM for the customer, and can put the supplies in the unit, but I've never done that on this series.
    1) Am I likely correct that the Black unit is at fault and
    2) Is there anything special to know about PM'ing the black unit I should know about?

      Due to age I would suggest upgrade.
      If not then I would do all developers and drum blade minimum.
      As to anything special....
      Make sure all the clips are re-engaged on the dv unit cover or it will leak.
      powder coat the drum or blade will flip.
      If the mag roller is smooth then order new dv unit with the "rough" mag roller.
      Make sure to reset pm counters and run the correct setups (if you change all dv then run full dv setup or just the ones you do.)

      These were not bad machines when well maintained but money pits if not.
      And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

              Thank you sir.. customer approved the repairs, so I'll download the S/H and go from there...

                      Nice! OK ...

                      1) You've go something stuck on the transfer belt, or maybe a rip, causing the sequence of lines crossfeed. Whatever it is snags on the primary transfer belt cleaning blade. You'll want to further examine the belt for rips, tears, impaled, or maybe just has a label stuck to it. Labels you can carefully clean off with paraffin lamp oil, then rinse with alcohol. The cleaned area will transfer properly after 75 pages of the blade squeegeeing off the chemicals. If you need to replace the transfer belt and blade, you'll want to clean all the aluminum idler rollers with De-Ink or WD40. They'll be heavily built up with toner.

                      2) Yes you're black developer is totally dead. I would check the 6S-2 counters, but the simplest approach is to get the black developer kit and drum. Clean the primary scorotrons and wand the laser slit glasses. You'll want to reset the appropriate counters (the parts that you replaced) in 6S-2, then in 05 mode stir the developer, then do a color calibration (05-396, 05-4719, 05-4fax, use the printed page to do 05-1642, 05-70fax, then use that printed page to run 05-1008.)

                      The other colors do not have any major flaws that I can identify from your samples. Four full page, single color, 15% originals would tell me more. =^..^=

                          Got it.. thanks. I thought that maybe the Cyan and Magenta lines were just "blade lines", on each of the drums...? I didn't think there was something on the Xfer belt, but I never pulled it to look it over thoroughly. I had to order a couple of main charge corona blocks, because one of the blocks broke on me and I couldn't complete the PM, but they're here and I'm going to finish rebuilding the Black unit and go back this week...
