is there away to adjust the black toner output on a 3040c, when my wife makes copies with it, it pukes it out and I wanna see if we can adjust it some how

I would probably start out by printing off the 9S-107 and 9S-103 maintenance reports. 107 is the jam and error report. 103 is the maintenance items list, the current counts, and which ones are due for replacement.
My guess is that the black developer and DEV kit are due, but the reports will tell you that. If that's the case, you want a qualified tech to install these items and do a color calibration.

2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
