3511 colour bleeding and fusing issue

Hi,

I'm having some more issues with my 3511.

The first problem is I'm getting bleeding of the colours by around 2mm. Having flicked through the manual there would seem to be an abundance of things that could be causing this, what are the most common ones?

Secondly, whenever i use any paper thicker than 80gsm and any coated gloss papers the image comes out shreded and looks like the toner has been melted and scraped off? This is especially true when i try duplex.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Do not use coated paper with this machine. Second are you setting the paper for thick 1 or thick 2 as is required? As to the registration check the main drive belts and the revolver motor backlash. Also check the revolver home sensor. Make sure the machine is completely clean.

huh? Are you saying this machine cannot except any coated papers!??

Yes, i set the thickness and have tried it on all settings. Now though, the toner is not fusing at the top of even stabdard 75gm papers as well?

Have you rebuilt the fuser? See what the thermistors look like, they may need to be replaced. If it won't fuse on standard paper I would first get the fuser rebuilt and thoroughly gone through. Then if it fuses on plain paper but will not fuse correctly on your special paper on any setting, it is a paper problem. Such is life with thicker and coated papers. The other problem you are having does sound like the drive belts are wore, there is a kit with updated gears and belts you can put it. May as well have the kit becuase the entire machine has to come apart to even see the belts very well. It's making me nauseaious thinking about it.

Thanks for the advice. Just an update really, i've rebuilt the fuser and replaced the drum and transfer belt and it's running a treat now in B&W but still having a problem with the colour.
The yellow toner is offsetting by about 1-2mm from the rest of the colours?
I would have thought they would all be out of allignment if the drive belts were faulty?

Any advice?

Still sounds like the drive assy. for the transfer belt. There are two belts in there that wear out, primarily the one that drives the belt. There is an updated kit, may as well have that before you tear it apart because it has to all come out of there.

<Color Deviation Correction Procedure>
There are 2 methods to correct a color deviation; using the "Test pattern 63" (correction method 1)
and using the "Test pattern 64" (correction method 2). Correct in either way of these methods.
Correction method 1
(1) While pressing the digital keys [0] and [5] simultaneously, turn the power ON.
