E-2040C laser shutter motor noise CF90

I'm getting the grinding noise during printing and when I'm running 03-417 (laser shutter motor test), anybody had this grinding noise from the laser shutter, or the laser shutter motor?
The interesting thing is that the original call was for C280 (scanner home position), this got taken care by removing the glass and sliding the scanner left to right several times and the C280 went away, after several copies the CF90 appears.
    Copier has 130k print.

I've seen this code on two occasions:

On the first occasion the cyan developer had dumped into the laser shutter, binding it up. I did need to entirely remove the laser to get all the developer out of the cleaner mechanism.

On the second occasion The laser shutter home position sensor failed. When you attempted to run 03-417 the shutter would twitch just a little, but never completed a cycle. It's one of those delightful Sharp 73 photointerrupters that we have replaced so many of over the last 3 years.

The mechanism that drives that shutter is timed, so make marks before disassembling the gear drive, or better yet don't disassemble the drive at all.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I second the bad sensor, stamped Sharp 73 then the lot number on the opposite side. If the lot # is A18 then all the sensors should be replaced in the machine. I believe there are 25 in an ex-mash box. Takes a whole day for 1 tech to replace all the sensors. Toshiba did supply replacements free of charge for awhile.

I replaced the motor and the motor's gear - problem fixed.

Thanks you all for the input.
