    Estudio 5055cse Blank Copies

    Hi,

We have about 10 Toshiba's out in the field and to be honest never had any major issues with them,
but this does mean that i very rarely work on them. (I am trained on them albeit 2 years ago)

I have a customer that has a 5055cse that is having intermittent issues when copying, that they come out completely blank and will carry on like this until the machine is turned off and on again.
They can print fine when the copying issue rears its head.

It is happening a couple of times a day, i have been to have a look but when i arrived it was all working fine.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I think I would print off the 9S-107 jam and error list. I would also expect to see some C380 errors (black toner density out of range). You might also hear the gear noise at first.

Especially on higher volume machines the developer bearings begin to leak at the rear, and the leaked developer acts as polishing compound, polishing the gear teeth off to smooth. I know of techs that will replace those gears, but do nothing about the leaking seals. Since there continues to be a ready supply of leaked developer, the gears last 7K to 10K, before being ruined again.

A better plan is to vacuum out the black developing unit. Replace both augers, (4) seals, (2) plastic bushings at the front, (2) bearings at the rear, all four gears at the rear, and a bag of developer. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Hi,

As suggested blackcat4866 i printed the jam and error list but there was no error apart from the odd jam on the doc feeder and LCT. There is no issue with the actual print quality as when its printing the prints look excellent

Its a really weird one and luckily it had the issue when i was there
all printing is fine (even when the copies are blank)
copy or scan from platen or through doc feeder and they come out blank

If i switch the machine Off and leave it off for a minute or 2 it comes on and all works fine for an hour then the issue repeats itself.

I updated the Firmware and checked over the optics section, mirrors and CCD and all looks fine, this was 3 days ago and i had a call this afternoon with exactly the same thing happening.

Im a bit stumped to be honest!

        Re: Estudio 5055cse Blank Copies

        Hi Gaffers,

First let me say I don't work on that model, bu I've been servicing machines for over 35 years, so I've seen a lot. It sounds to me like the charge corona is not turning on (nothing else will give you a completely blank copy and then work correctly- if something goes wrong in development or transfer the copy would be light before going blank, and if its an optical problem the copy would be dark or black). I'd go after the charge power supply. Perhaps in that model the circuitry that enables it originates in a different place for printing than it does for copying. I have seen quite a few power supplies fail in the manner that you described (turn the machine off and on and it works again).
        Just food for thought.
        Good luck.

        Don

From what you said it sounds like an image processing issue to me.

I'm going to suggest re-formatting the HDD or replacing it, then re-loading the firmware. As a possible second choice it may be the System Board, or third choice the SRAM. The second and third choices are both expensive, time consuming, and difficult. So start with the HDD first. =^..^=
