    Re: Toshiba 3510c HD error

So the final verdict is that the New Hard Drive is bad?? I guess I will order another one and see what happens. Is there any specification that I need to make sure to get? Size? Model? etc?

      Re: Toshiba 3510c HD error

      Good morning,

So after several weeks of trouble shooting I am still not able to get past the issue I have been having. I returned and ordered a new HD but I still get the same "initialize error" when I try 3-clear to format the new drive. Can some one please help.

So the machine will not complete 3C-3 (won't format the drive)? Are the harnesses connected from the HDD to the System Board? The only other things that it could be are the HDD harnesses or a bad System Board. Is it cost effective to repair this machine since most of the rest of the consumables are no longer available?

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          Well. A few suggestions.

          1) Your original problem of an update stopping in middle may be a memory chip issue. I have personally experienced this. If you think your old HDD is still good, place back in machine. Install new memory chip in SYS board. Then perform procedures to prep HDD and install firmware. You really can just do the HDD data as well.

          2) the second drive may be failing due to larger size not being recognized by older firmware.

I also saw the photos of the drives as well. There are some WD SATA drives that won't work in the Toshiba machines, once again first hand knowledge of this.

Your level of firmware according to the Toshiba little sticker on the old drive is very old.

          Hope this helps.
