    4540C cyan shading

I have a 4540 with some cyan shading. Printing is fine. Laying original on the glass is fine. Only does it through the document feeder. Cyan drum and developer were due to be changed so I changed them. Cleaned mirrors and lens. The shading occurs in the same spot with the same pattern. Sample attached. My sample upload keeps failing.

      Sample?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Initially scanned at 600dpi. File too large. scanned at 300 and it went through

          Which is the feed direction?

I'd like to see some of the prints of this:

Feed direction is denoted by the arrow half way down. Letter paper, long edge feed. Haven't run those test patterns as printing is fine. It only occurs through the ADF on full or auto color, not BW.
Did you want the test prints run through the ADF?

Now that I think more about it, it has to be the ADF, since the optics are fixed. Probably rear height. Probably some buckling action that reproduces as cyan. I'll take one off another machine and do a full alignment.

                Sounds like sound plan.

the reason I asked for prints is that it's very rare to get an ADF Only image quality issue. Odds are when you look at these prints you'll see the same issue that you hadn't noticed before on other less telling images.

ADF height can be causing this issue if you're sure it's only happening through the ADF.

Problem was adf height adjust. Surprised I never saw it before.

There is a background adjustment for scanning that can be performed to remove this background. It is in the Service Manual and Handbook.
