es 450 problem loading hdd firmware

Hello. Before, I have successfully replaced and loaded firmware on to new hard drives, but now it wants to confound me. I'm using a 2 gb flash usb, is formatted FAT, and has 450 firmware on it. I've tried two different usb s. I have also tried different hard drives and system board. When I go into the 4 9 mode, it shows either a line of numbers going down, or will say 'firmware up mode...initializing now'. Either way, it will hang up at that point all day if you let it.

At the risk of sounding like my customers, we've used these same usb s before and it has worked. I need to get someone going with a new hard drive. If nothing else works, does anyone know if they sell hard drives with firmware on & ready to go ? I appreciate any suggestions anyone would have. thanks.

Have you included the mentos file on the root of the drive? Many of the older models need that file. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
