    [Misc] Need updated firmware E-Studio 520 (rebranded as Oce Imagistics im5530)

    Have an Toshiba E-Studio 520 that is branded as an Oce Imagistics im5530. It needs a firmware upgrade.
    It utilizes the SMBv1 protocol ONLY for scanned document retrieval.

    The SMBv1 protocol is a MAJOR SECURITY RISK for Ransomware!
    The goal is to eliminate SMBv1 from the entire network. Alas, this copier which works perfect is online and the scanner function is needed!

    I need a firmware upgrade or a workaround.

    Any suggestions most gratefully appreciated!

      How about FTP, or scan to the HDD?

      Two very simple non-SMB choices. =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          if he had an old PC laying around, he could set it up to scan to folder also, then send out via email.

              Hmmm I will check out FTP. I am unsure of the scan to HDD. I have dug pretty deep into both the estudio Network Admin Manual and the Service manual but perhaps I must dig deeper but nothing rings a bell.

                  The office has no spare pc's. They are all Windows 10 of one flavor or another except for one Windows 7 Pro (good software that does not run properly on Windows 10 but vendor is out of business) that is special purpose. All are networked with SMBv1 disabled forever.

                          Try scan to E-Filing? But client pc need to install file downloader software to connect MFP and download.

                              It will only scan to email if there is a local email server. Alas, there is not.

                                              Installed software. Tried a scan and it worked. Now I need to find a way to simplify the user interface on the copier.

                                              Is there a way to setup some defaults so we don't have to go through the procedure of selecting a BOX each time we scan?

                                                  Toshiba File Downloader was very limited it's capabilities and was not widely used.

                                                  You are trying to make discontinued software work with a long ago discontinued copier to solve a 2018 problem.

                                                  If you need to scan directly to folder via SMB2/ SMB3 you need to upgrade the copier to a current model.

                                                  No support will be coming from Toshiba to offer SMB2/SMB3 scanning from a e520 copier.

                                                      With Ricoh you can scan to the Document Server hen retrieve using WIM.
