    Weiss Developer Mixer

    Weiss_mixer.jpg

Recently encountered many weiss series where it keep asking for toner even new toner is inserted, the toner will keep going inside the developer tank causing toner overflow, image related error, insufficient developer material and etc...

One thing i noticed is that the developer mixer got a small flap used to stir the auto toner sensor, the flap often worn out, is it a must to replace the mixer with flap?

Very common - also NEVER turn these backwards.

We have been getting in the habit of pulling off the sensor every developer change and having a look at the toner buildup and the condition of the scraper.
It's a bit anemic and fails easily - you have to replace the mixing screw...or you can field engineer some super glue and rubber or mylar material...

We see a lot of toner blow out issues with these. Seems around 120K is when the dev needs replaced or they will go totally sideways.
This would not be so bad if the color dev kit was not stoopidly expensive for no good reason.

There are bulletins addressing the corona end block connections but even after that, these machine seem to be toner pigs.

Having no scraper on the sensor or toner stuck to the sensor or the sensor face worn down will cause it to not read the correct toner/carrier ratio...

What kind of toner are you using? I've seen plenty of developing unit failures, but it's mostly auger rear seal and bushing failures, which leak enough developer into the auger drive gears to grind off the gear teeth. Once they've been updated with bearings (instead of bushings) all around, new seals, augers and gears, they seem to be pretty reliable. I have had one of the new Weisshorn 2H leak developer from the rear seals after only 120K, and it did have the updated bearings.

The Weisshorn Low (2050, 2550, 2051, 2551) and Weisshorn High (2555, 3555) came originally with developer bushings all around, and under low color use the bushings fail before the first color PM.

I haven't really ever had to address the toner sensor or toner sensor cleaner on this series, but they do get developer rebuilds fairly regularly. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        BC,

        Using genuine toshiba toner...

The seal is another issue for this series causing leaking resulting gears broken...

The replace toner error will jump from 1 color to another color if u r unlucky....

If the mixer scraper is a must, seems like need to modify/add scraper instead of replacing the mixer...

          Today encountered another cases...

C3A0 or install new magenta toner error, where no magenta toner go inside developer unit...The mixer scrapper is gone, luckily there is enough magenta developer, after performed auto toner adjustment machine is back to normal...Not sure how long it can last...

Few day ago this same machine, I replaced black developer where it keep asking to replace black toner...

Now...no toner making into the developer unit is a different problem...
There was a rash of toners where the pull off tape would not release so literally no toner would come out of the toner bottle (it would also brick the new toner because the machine would see no toner was being added then write that info on the toner bottle chip).

It's also possible you simply have a clog in the toner chute

I have also seen issues with the toner add motors as they are not mounted all that well - had one not meshing and chewed gears, one with a pinched wire .
