Toshiba E-506 with KD-1026 Add Paper problem

Have a Toshiba E-studio 506 that has a KD-1026 LCF that keeps giving me add paper signals when the tray is full.
Sometimes I can run 1 sheet, sometimes 3 or 4 sheets before I get the Add paper indicator. What I've noticed is
the tray doesn't stay raised up in position, so what I find is the tray is in the driven down position. I can open the tray door and close it and sometimes it will drive all the way back up into the feed position and sometimes it will drive up and down immediately, and after a couple of times of opening and closing the drawer it will drive back up and stay up and again sometimes I can run 1 sheet or sometimes I can run several sheets before the tray drives back down and says add paper again. Checked up down sensors check good.

    Two things that I'd check:

Is the return spring attached to the center gate between the paper stacks? Depending how you close the drawer, sometimes the gate finds the correct position, sometimes it doesn't.

Order up 6 or 8 or those photointerrupters, and wholesale replace all of them. They can become intermittent.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I Only see one spring attached on the KD-1026 feed head assembly its marked callout #2 in the attached file. Should there be others somewhere else?

Not on the feed assenbly. On the left side tray rear. The only yellow colored thing. The gate? Item 33:

Item 33 spring is fine in place and operates correctly along with the sensors check out Ok in service mode. Drive Motor up/down works fine checked gears for cracks none found. Any other suggestions? Sure would appreciate it.
Only other thing I've noticed is if paper put in the left hand tray it tries to shift it over regardless if paper is in the right hand tray. And of course if there is then it jams up against the existing paper as it tries to shift it over.

Thanks for the suggestion. You mean this part #6le99362000 callout #19 in the parts catalog? You think attaching some weight to it might help?

                    Thanks Luther
I don't think it's broken cause I actually had it off today, but not sure if it's deformed, cause not sure how its suppose to look.
