Re: how are the tosh 4518A's working
They only began shipping fin Nov/Dec so way too early to say.
There were some minor technical improvements.
If you liked the e4508A no reason to think you will not like the e4518A with a bigger LCD panel and the new apps.
Seems the HDD crashing issue has largely been resolved. -
Re: how are the tosh 4518A's working ?
Yeah, the eS4508A has been solid. I've only replaced one HDD for a customer that kept yanking out the power plug "to fix a jam".
One thing to watch for though ...
This is occurring on the 4505AC and 4508A: It's referred to as a "rotate sort quality issue". Essentially, what happens is you can get fuser multiple imaging at the outer edges of the fixing film only on sequential print jobs of different width paper.
Imagine, if you will, that you've printed off 40 LT-R images, then the next job in the queue is onto LT paper. The ends of the fixing film are hotter than the center where that LT-R paper has passed. The first few pages of the next job will show fuser multiple imaging at the outer edges, diminishing by the third or fourth page. It's especially noticeable when rotate sort has been selected.
There is a simple fix outlined in the service manual. When the machine identifies the paper size change it inserts a brief pause to equalize the fuser temperature across the roller, before starting the next job. There is a table of 08-Mode values that must be changed, specific to the model.
It was especially noticeable for the customer that prints alternately ST-R heavy media and LD plain paper.
And it's common enough that I have suggested making these changes on setup. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: how are the tosh 4518A's working ?
For e4508A, I've replaced new HDD, then a month later replaced SYS board for the same unit...
Common error is from fuser side where the upper heat roller & themistor not lasting...Heard that there is new firmware released to solve the issue...
This EBN series RADF also giving some problems...
e4518A changed from Capacitive touch panel to Resistive touch panel where so far no panel issue encountered...
Difference between eS5008A series and eS5018A series:
EPU Main charger
EPU Auto toner sensor
EPU IC chip
Toner Cartridge
PC board (LGC board)
PC board (LVPS board)Comment

Re: how are the tosh 4518A's working ?
Not sure on the hdds yet on those, time will tell. What is troubling is toshiba worming their way out of warranty replacements because of the high fail rate on the previous series, and I think this is the same drive. The fuser fails also are of some concern, seems only 50% make it to full pm time.Comment
