toshiba 3540c test mode D not responding

first i thought it was a password issue even though test mode D is displayed after pressing ok so i did 3c assist mode and cleared the service password no help
I can get to the screen but when i put in a code like 2528 or 2486 and press start nothing happens the code is displayed but no sub numbers of course i got to mode d by using 08 start
so im wondering if its in some kind of safe mode or what I read the book for an hour and cant find anything HELP im trying to clear a ce20 error so the machine is down

    thanks in advance

The CE20 isn't a code that you would clear like you would a fuser code. Before I did anything I would look at the transfer belt to see if there is any image at all. If not then you should be able to turn off 08 2486 just by entering the code then pressing 0 than Start to invalidate IQC. The try to run 04-270 and see if it is produced correctly on the transfer belt. Did you try to clean the IQC sensors and is the shutter over them moving freely?

The CE20 is reset by powering off the switch. It will attempt color registration and toner density patches when it's powered back on. When it fails CE20, remove the primary transfer belt to tell which patch is missing, CMY or K. Then look at that imaging unit ... usually developing or primary charge. You're getting all tangled up in the manual. Forget the manual for a moment.

This goes for CE40 and CA00 codes also. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I agreed you those are two separate issues; a) ce20, b) 08 test mode input. a) is relevant to hardware(component, sensors) issue, b) is pretty relative to software(firmware issue)
Recently I met similar issue on 08-400 to clear error code C449, the "START" Key is not response at all, even switch a good touch panel, same problem remains. I found 08 test mode d is "WAIT' status for ever, may be cause the problem, here I want to consult top experts who explain some useful explanation-such as boot sequence, point of view.
Appreciation to everyone try to add comments.
