estudio 2505ac replace toner error

Hello all. got a client with a 2505ac that ran out of black toner. brought a new oem black installed it. it fired up and printed 20 pages out of the que and thought all was ok. an hour later they called and said it is saying replace black toner. had them try the reset by following the info steps. then tried reseating toner. still fails. went onsite with another new toner swapped it out and followed steps. still bad. tried adding toner manually to developer unit. nope put white out on drive gear of toner auger and noticed not turning. any thoughts?

also machine has 44754 black pages and 28876 color pages. when power cycle machine. it powers up fine then starts to cycle and then says replace black toner. even though the toner meter says 100%

Is your new cartridge a solid block of toner? Will the drive on the cartridge turn? =^..^=

in regaurds to the chip statement. yes they do and so do both of these

thanks for the thought blackcat4866 ... 1 toner is a bit stiff to turn even after shaking it the other is easier tho i wouldn't say real easy. if turn little gear which turns big gear on toner is OKish. but cant turn by big gearitself easily on either.

just tried on the empty can spin big gear semi easily. it is much stiffer on new ones.

another thing I just remembered is when I removed the 1st new toner. the chip and its holder had fallen off and was in the space between black and cyan. just got off phone with another local tech and he has seen where the toner drive gear can become stripped. so it wont error out cause the motor turns but the toner auger doesnt.

Sounds like you are on the right track - i have not had this specific model's toner drive apart but have seen issues with gear slippage/stripage/deformed on similar - the drive is a little anemic, new toners NEED to be shaken so they can be stirred.

I know on the 5055c series there was a rash of toner bottles whereby the seal strip would not fully pull out - would brick the toner chips as an empty bottle. Sooo...

If the bottle is not turning to add toner enough, the copier will write the chip as empty. You seem to have a drive issue or no voltage to motor and that new bottle may still not work and read as empty...sucks too because Toshiba will not warranty the bottles

all are technicaly the same part. which do I get? j for japan? e for europe? and U for US? so U? and right now luckily the machine says the toners are 100%

BTW and FYI for all - this info is 'hiding' in the manual - I remember being confused by the version designation and having a hard time finding it. It's in the manuals at the end of the (2)Specification section - in the 5005ac series SM its on page 2-12 (pdf page 38)
