    Toshiba manuals opacity

So, I've got a noisy fan on an eS2508A. Since I'd figured out the 2505AC series for fans, I thought the 2508A might be similar. Not very.

This might be totally illogical, but I opened the SMC manual to search "fan" and how to test in 03 mode. I found 4 references:
    Developing Fan
    Suction Fan
    DSDF Fan
    RSDF Fan

The noise maker was the developing fan. Wondrous! Now I search the SM for "developing fan" ... no reference. How about "suction fan"? No reference. I do find something called M2 Process Unit Fan, and M9 TRU Fan. They just happen to be exactly those same two fans with different names. Do you want a third different name? Look it up in RIBON.

Do you think they could make it a little more difficult to understand?

I know that often different groups of engineers write different manuals, sometimes different sections of the same manual. But it seems like a prerequisite that they should decide what the hell to call something, so there is some consistency. This is the sort of thing that makes some techs skip the manuals altogether.

    End of rant. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

As some who has sat in the class as a Tech and a Trainer it's one of the first things we go through, as kind of a this is how to read the manual, these are the tricks and secrets of the brand.
It's all about being brand trained

You are so right Blackcat. I am a Toshiba tech and I still find some of their service manuals to be somewhat obtuse to the point of absurdity. I've seen the same issue with sensor naming. And don't get me started on the Japanese to English translation mess ups through the years!
