    T5070 Toner Circuit Board

I have a e257 with 220k clicks, latest firmware and a Toshiba original OEM T5070 toner with 20% full indicated.

As soon as you remove the toner and place it back in the copier, the LCD panel displays that the toner is not recognized and to install a new one. You can fiddle with the toner all you want putting it back in and out, clean the contacts on the back of the toner and clean the springs on the sensor inside the copier where the toner chip contacts but nothing seems to work. I do know how to replace the sensor at the back of the copier if I wanted to and even have one in stock.

I had a new T5070 toner with me so I installed it and the copier worked right away.

Back at the office, I have a pile of empty T5070 toner bottles waiting to be recycled.

I decided to spend some time, pop off the toner board from an empty toner and install it on the 20% full toner by removing the original toner board. To my surprise, it worked.

Is it possible that the little electronic board on the back of the toner can go bad? Has anyone else tried this?

Very common on the Masherbrum (2330C series) and Mash X (2540C series). On those machines the chip is exactly the same on every color toner cartridge, so any chip will do. Machines with certain kinds of power issues seem to blow these toner cartridge chips. The most memorable was an eS855 and an eS2380C on the same 120V 20A circuit. The customers reasoning was that they only had one surge suppressor, so they HAD to put them on the same circuit. Fortunately for me there were 5 unique circuits in the room to choose from.

When the color machine was put on its own unique circuit, it never blew another chip.

    Maybe something like this? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I've had the chips on the back of toners give me issues, and also with the detection chip on the machine side, most of the time I've just had to pull them out and clean out or replace.

From my 2540c experiences I had with the dirty toner cartridge chip readers I've noticed that the machine will somehow invalidate the chip on the corresponding toner cartridge if there is a connection issue between the chip and the reader in the adding toner process, if this makes sense?

The problem came back on the original e257 copier with a new OEM toner.

I inserted the original toner with the salvaged chip and it worked.

I put the new OEM toner back in, the toner was not recognized.

I replaced the toner sensor at the back of the copier and now both toners work.

Both the toner chip on the toner & machine side will give problems, this is the beauty of Toshiba MFPs...
