Toshiba E- Studio 506 Firmware Update error F101 (4 + 9 or 0 + 8) Not working

I replaced HDD on 506 E and followed the instruction on the manual on updating Firmware
When I was doing the firmware update I was only able to do the system firmware update which was from T160SF0W2000 version to the T160SFW1652
(the one on the USB) and after I updated that I was not able to go back to firmware updater
mode (by pressing 4 & 9) or 0 + 8 to initialize and I got F106 error so I ended up getting
another HDD and after installing I formatted it (by pressing C & 3)
but when I was trying to go back to firmware updater mode (by pressing
4 & 9) but now I am getting F101 error
Only C+3 & C+4 is working
4+9, 0+8 & C+5 not working

Any Suggestion would help Thanks!

1st try updating ONE firmware at a time.. rebooting unit between updates.

Don't do BATCH upgrade do one at a time!

C+3 check the keys you will probably have to reformat again but also transfer keys, I take it the hard drive is one of the wipe drives as if the machine has had a wipe type drive in it and you are trying a non wipe drive it will not work.

Forgive me but I have little experience on firmware upgrade

I couldn't find any clue on the service manual on how to upgrade the firmware one at a time, I only see the (4+9) batch upgrade option and thats is not working in this case
Please send any suggestions I can try

The first HDD I tried was a non wipe drive, I was getting F106 error with that one, So I replaced a second HDD that is Wipe drive (exact match with the original) but I am having the F101 error this time and I will try your suggestion and reformat again

I reformatted 2nd time and I was able to get back (4+9) option to come back

Me too. It absolutely must be a Wipe Drive. The F106 means wrong kind of drive.
