Re: Toshiba 2050C control panel not responding to buttons and touchscreen presses
It is possible that the silver shielded cable that connects the LCD panel to the main board is damaged. -
Re: Toshiba 2050C control panel not responding to buttons and touchscreen presses
The problem turned out to be a corrupt hard drive. The problem was solved by formatting the entire hard drive in 3C mode and reinstalling the firmware.
I tried replacing the SYS board and power supply board, and neither solved the problem. I tried various hard drive recovery techniques (recover F/S, formatting the root partition, etc) without success.Comment

Re: Toshiba 2050C control panel not responding to buttons and touchscreen presses
Just today I had an e Studio 356 that would boot to "Ready", print, and receive fax. But if you touch any control panel button or soft key, the machine would display "Shutting Down." like I might have pressed the Power button. If you don't touch the panel it stays on, "Ready".
I treated it like a failed HDD. Fortunately, I had saved a previous NetScan that provided the IP address. From the web interface I was able to create a clone file and save it back to my laptop. I was able to navigate 3C, 49, and 08 modes without a problem. From then on the panel acted normally, so I had no difficulty entering the IP, importing the clone file, and the 05 mode image calibrations.
I believe that there was a corrupt sector on the HDD. When the panel was touched, I imagine the the MFP trying to access a corrupt command. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Wow, that's tough one too!
I didn't even think of grabbing a clone from the web interface! I'll have to remember that in the future. Thanks!
The machine I was fixing did respond to pings, and print jobs could be sent to it from a computer, so I know the network interface was functional.Comment
