    Toshiba OCR GS1080NODE

    Hello guys,
I'm a bit frustrated as Toshiba keeps messing things up drastically, from their FYI site working half of the time to discontinuing licenses which are for machines under active contracts. So I am in need of an OCR license for a 4518A as described on the title, client has the unit installed and suddenly the court started asking for searchable PDF's so as the contract they have will be due in 2 years they are pretty much stuck with a unit they won't be able to use at it's full potential unless I can purchase one of these licenses. And pretty sure they'll move on after the contract if I can't find one to get them scanning with the dongle or license number. Thank you all for the help!

I don't have a spare license, but this may help if you aren't aware of it: If you have a machine that used the USB dongle to install the OCR GS1080 before they switched over to the digital license, you can use the dongle to remove the license from a copier that no longer needs it and install it on one that does. I've done this several times over the last year. We get a copier returned to us and before it goes to the recycler or the leasing company I transfer the license back to the USB dongle. I'm pretty sure you'll need the original dongle and not just any USB stick. We always attach them to the copiers back panel before install so they stay with the machine. You may already know about this, but if not, this gives you an optional way to get that license.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

Thank you Arnh, you are correct I did this a few times but at the moment I have no older USB's nor a new license number to enable it on the unit. However I found one on ebay that'll hopefully work. Thank you again for the help!

That's something we do on lease returns is to remove the license and store it on the GS1080 thumb drive. When we send a machine out, we keep the thumb drive because the customer usually ends up LOSING them & just a normal thumb drive won't work.
