So someone pulled in a 5516ACT that we needed to clean up as a loaner, because a customer had a broken water pipe give a 6516AC a bath and the machine for some reason
didn't like it. In our warehouse, we have used machines in two areas. "black dot" which are scrapped for parts and, "DO NOT TOUCH" machines that are for resale.
This one was in the do not touch.
So, usually the first thing I do it 08-8615 to make sure everything is wiped and set to factory, then update the firmware. When I entered 8615, instead of rebooting, it went
back to the test mode screen.
I just shook it off and did the firmware update, it was at 1900. Popped the latest in and selected everything. I come back a few minutes later and it's stuck on updating
the PFC. The green bar hasn't moved. I come back 20 minutes later, still stuck. So I booted into HS, played a few things in there and tried to update to just 1904.
It stuck again on PFC. So I thought I would just reset all the connections on the PFC, pull the RAM stick out, clean it and the fan and I think I know why it won't update
the PFC now.
Now, I have to ask my techs....who was in the wrong pile of machines!
