Toshiba eStudio 2555c color bands at the top of the page

    Hey everyone,

Have an ex-lease Toshiba eStudio 2555c that has been great until recently.

When printing in black and white, it is fine, but as soon as we print color we start getting horizontal lines / patches across the top of the page (mainly Magenta and cyan) - the more we print the worse this gets until it takes up a large portion of the top 1/4 of the page and is a pretty thick band of color.

I have done all the easy cleaning, and removed the transfer belt and transfer belt cleaning blade and cleaned off everything - this usually helps for the first few pages and then becomes horrible again.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction of what to do next - my research has me thinking my image drums or developer unit / developer material may need replacing (either due to old age, or UV exposure, as i am sure that early on when doing 'maintenance' i have likely given them more exposure to the office light than they should have, before i knew that was an issue). Given the age of the machine and the small amount it cost me (and the likelihood that more things will start to go as it ages) I am reluctant to just start replacing parts in the hope i get it right (a lot to outlay in $ if its not the issue lol)

I suspect that the cyan charge grid is coated with toner and corroded. The cyan toner overspray covers the laser slit glass, voiding part of the image.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Blackcat is right, also I'd clean the led head and inspect if there's cyan toner spill if there is plenty that might be the beginning of an common issue on these older units caused by the mixer rubber ATS sensor cleaning pad breaking off and this will create over toning as the ATS can't detect the amount of toner and copier keeps adding toner on that particular color. I've had at least 10 developer units doing this lately on the last 2555C's and 4555's units out there.

I've had this when there's a deformation in the magnetic roller of the developer assembly, sometimes the affected section is swollen causing the dev material to touch the drum and you have to replaced the mag roller or whole assembly, other times it's hardened toner between the knurls of the mag roller and you can scrap it off. You'll see it as a slight bulge in the coating of the developer material at one end.
No, I will not send you Manuals, Software or your own little repair Genie to fix all your problems for you.
