    2550c and 55c developer unit

    hello
does anybody have rebuilt black dv units I can purchase or maybe the group of parts I might need to rebuild the units myself
im a small independent tech and these units are the weak spot for these machines
    thanks very much

That's a fact. Most of the time if there's an error code, it's because you'll need to rebuild a developing unit. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

From time of DP3500/4500 and then estudio 350 and so on I hated those developer units. Great B&W machines but those developer units were their doomsday. No mather how many times you rebuild them with oil seals, bushings, bearings and gears they will last up to 3rd maintanance and then better replace whole damn thing or tech is rewarded with damaged mixer shafts and developer sleeve shaft too.

Knowing Toshiba(not particular models in question) they didn't changed design of these developer units, are they BC?

Re: 2550c and 55c developer unit

        There have been minor updates:

        different augers
bearings all around instead of bushings (we've been doing that since the beginning)
the 2505 and 2515 have incompatible parts that are essentially fail in exactly the same way.

The short explanation is that rear seals fail, allowing developer into the bushings or bearings. It's a plastic auger shaft with a thin metal sleeve at the seal area. The thin sleeve wears through ... I've seen a few twisted off augers. The developer powder works as a polishing compound, polishing the teeth right off the developer gears.

The newer 2505/2515 machines are actually worse: The air duct under the developing unit fills with developer, throwing off the toner density detection. As SOP, I remove the lower duct cover, vacuum out any developer, and tap as much developer as possible out of the toner sensor (it will be full). If you don't, the machine will not be able to perform a developer stir successfully. There is a new style mylar seal intended to keep that developer out of the duct. I can't say whether it works or not.

          Ouch... sounds like fun
My Toshiba days are now gone though I can still rebuild dev units and fusers, but man they aren't missed at all
