8518a after firmware update machine keeps cycling.

Posting for a friend, he was just doing courtesy calls while schools are slow. He went to this machine, with about 70K copies, it's been there 2 years now, he was just doing an general cleaning, and firmware up to 1700, when he finished the firmware the machine would cycle about ever 30 seconds, no messages displayed, but it keeps running. He called Tech support, and they suggested he format the hdd, and reload the firmware. Problem remains, I asked him to check the drum sensor, based on my previous experience, but he said that was fine.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It's just preventing flat spots on the fuser. And it's more like every 90 seconds. That's entirely normal. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

He just got back to me, ITC said they had another tech with the same problem. He changed the settings and now it's working.

He told me he timed it, it was every 30 seconds.

He said it's fixed, He changed 08-5251-0 and -1, they were set to 1, he changed them to 3.

      He said it's working now.
