E 3511 light from one side

    HI,
I have a 3511 that when i make copies it makes them very light from half the page. It is so light that you can see anything even when you darken it. This just started happening but i progressed to this point since about 3 months ago. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

The first question I would have is are you a tech? If so I'd go after the laser glass b4 anything else, they have a tendency to get dirty quickly! (depends on what you mean by "light" copies)

    Regards!

I am not a tech. I was hoping i can learn and do many things my self.
Basically when i make a copy, half of the page will be ok and the other half will be real light. I can tell it has progressed quickly in the last few months.

Thats not a machine that's very forgiving to beginners thats for sure.. Just to get to the glass is a multistep process just to see it to see if it's clouded with toner dust (a likely source of faded copies on this series of machine). Its easy to damage your drum or transfer belt if the correct steps aren't taken... I'd be inclined to say call your nearest available Toshiba service centre for help.. Especially with this box...

        Many regards!

I agree if you aren't used to working on copiers you will not have any idea what you are looking at with this model. And if you are used to working on copiers you'll want to jump out of a window after about an hour.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

I applaud any effort by someone to "learn by themselves", as this shows initiative (many "trained" techs don't have this) but I couldn't agree more with the other posts... This is DEFINITELY not a machine that a novice should be working on. On its BEST day, it was a B**CH of a machine, and that's when you're trained on copiers.

Come on guys this was the Lincoln Continental of the copier world when it was released....... (ok maybe more like the pinto). I have finally got down to just one of these on contract and it usually just needs a cleaning and a pm when they call in. Of course to clean it spotless then it will take 3-4 hours to do it correctly (at least as clean as I make it). Then I was trained when they first came out and learned how to do a revolver unit and main drive belts while sitting in a closet at the customers location the hard way.........

As the other posters are saying, If you have time and money it is not a bad machine HOWEVER this is not the machine to learn on. If you can teach yourself how to fix and maintain this with just the book and elbow grease then there are companies out there that may want to hire you...
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!
