    e-Studio 35 C47 code

Found code for 08 400 reset that has a "10" in it everytime I check it. Reset to "0" and it comes back instantly after turning machine on. According to info I found in manual the code 10 is for heater end thermistor after ready (Low Temperature). I have swapped another furser unit only to get same code.

New to this site but not a new tech (near 30 years) This is the only e-Studio I service. Service manual is very limited and not helping. Maybe it is the old age kicking in but I believe there must be more to resetting this code then I know.

    Any help would be appriciated.

There is a board that controls the IH coil and thermistors. Unplug the input leads going to it and see if the code changes. You've already ruled out a bad coil and bad thermistors. I've had several IH boards fail. If you have another machine to swap out with I'd take an IH board and power supply. Oh there is a slow blow on the IH board that I've seen pop sometimes, or sometimes not pop and the board pop. Who was it that said the 10 cent fuse's job is to blow AFTER the 500 dollar board???
    Hope that helps!

edit: If I remember right I think the boards that I have seen fail you could tell they were shorted out when you checked them out of circuit for continuity. Maybe that's my imagination though.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

      Thank you for the reply

I did go out a purchase a parts machine. I swapped out the board and had the same thing. Actually I swapped out all the boards with the fuser and it was still coming up. I figured I did something wrong or forgot a connector. Checked and rechecked, then I put all the whole set into the parts machine and it worked. Im thinking wiring harness somewhere at this point. Not as urgent that I find it now because I will just setup the parts machine for the customer. (I pulled the machine to work on it) I would like to fix the parts machine and if nothing else use it for testing.

If you know of anything else it would be a great help. I stoped working on it yesterday and it will be a day or two untill I get to "play" with the bad one. Being old school I was thinking if it had a triac or gate switch on the frame somewhere but that is what the heater control board is for. Like I said in the post, i have a manual and found it very limited for going to this level of troubleshooting. So much info that is not in the manual. Has me wondering if that do not have more to the manual then I recieved. I have a service manual and a handbook. Hard enough for a problem like this and then you have to use a manual like that.

      Thanks again for your reply.

The side thermistor on the fuser units on these machines are known to wear down. The coating will wear through and the thermistor will eventually break - As a general rule we usually replace them every other PM or so. You will need to pull it out and check.
