es251c Start Copy Button will only respond after exactly 4 presses

I thought the button was bad or stuck but in service mode it reponds on the first press everytime. I reloaded firmware but no help. In copy mode it will beep everytime you press it but will only start copying after 4 presses. Anyone seen this, I'm thinking Sys Bd but have seen the Lgc Bd cause weird problems. Thanks

the user interface only connects with the sys pwb. I would pull it apart and make sure it is not broken I have replaced many that were broken.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Have you seen this fix this problem or just think it's worth a try. These people have this machine address book loaded with fax numbers and email addresses, things that would be erased if I formatted. I backed up the data in Top Access but have never done a restore and don't trust the procedure. I guess I can install a second HDD and see if the machine works differently.

I have seen the hard drive do this as well but usually (from what I have seen) the plastic start button is the issue.
the restore process works as long as the firmware stays the same. If you plan on updating firmware with the backup/restore process then either do the update then the backup or do the backup then hard drive then restore then the firmware update.

You can also backup the AB via the export function. It puts it in a csv file instead of the toshiba proprietary format. I use the restore all the time with no problems though. I had a different model just the other day do something similar and it was the HDD. Very odd but it was!
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

Formatting the HDD fixed it, thanks.
