    Time for periodic maintenance 0100

    Hi,

The Toshiba 6530c colour copier I use has flashed up "Time for periodic maintenance 0100". What is the number at the end? Is it counting down to the next service?

You need to call your service technician and have him assess which parts need to replaced. Replace them if necessary and get rid of the message. The machine can be used while this message is displayed.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

I did call the service technician. He's at a complete loss as to what "0100" means as it's not in any of his service manuals. After checking the copier he did say it's got 120,000 copies to go before the next service, so he's wondering if 0100 is a countdown warning marker. Incidentally he didn't replace anything.

        Straight from the service handbook

When the counter value exceeds the setting value, the equipment notifies you of when the
maintenance time has come by displaying the message “Time for periodic maintenance ****” on the
control panel LCD. “****” in the message is a 4-digit hexadecimal number code. This number is
allocated in the following manner, therefore the parts needing maintenance can be identified.
PM parts of the process unit (K) : 0008
PM parts of the process unit (Y) : 0001
PM parts of the process unit (M) : 0002
PM parts of the process unit (C) : 0004
        Developer material (K) : 0080
        Developer material (Y) : 0010
        Developer material (M) : 0020
        Developer material (C) : 0040
Parts other than the PM parts of the process unit : 0100
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

          Thank you Mr Spock.

That does make sense. The service technician did say he couldn't find an "0100 error code" in his service manual.

Not sure on this model, but on some other toshibas, this code means the cleaning web in the fuser is due. I'm pretty sure if your tech checks the counters, he/she will see a * next to the items that are do for maintenance. Just have to reset those counters. Good luck!

He needs to reset the appropriate items in PM Support mode. He should know what that means!

You can turn off this warning message if you go to 08-9891 and set to 0. We didn't want this message coming up every time a pick-up roller in a drawer went over it's PM count!
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

It is probably in need of a fuser rebuild. It should be done every 250k.
