i have a thoshiba 3500c and attached to it i have a mj-1030 finisher. when i power on the copier i get an error code: cb30. the elevator tray on the finisher goes up and down during start up, but it makes a repeated "klicking" noise when it goes up or down. does anyone have any idea of how or why it would start doing this.? -thanks.

without seeing it I would guess you have one of the following conditions.
1. there is something under the lower tray so it can not make it all the way down
2. One or both of the home sensors (one top one bottom) are bad
3. One or both trays are not level and therefore cannot reach the home sensor.
4. there is something in one of the toothed vertical gears. And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right! -
it dosent look like anything is stuck.. the finisher was working just fine on another toshiba 3500c before we took it to the machine that its on now. could it be that there is something wrong with the machine's settings? because before this finisher we had a mj-1101 finisher connected and it was giving up the same error and the same gears where slipping.. i suspect that its going to be the settings in 0,8 mode that where set to return the finishing tray when printing is finished.. user code 648-1
