Toshiba E-Studio 35 network printing setup?

    Hi all

I have a client with Toshiba E-Studio 35 requiring network printing function and scan to file.

I believe they are missing components in order to do this.

If you look at the pics attached, you can see the external print controller attached to the back of the copier and a missing PWB in the copier.

There is no lead to connect the 2 either.

Can anyone tell me what is required in order to enable network printing and scanning?

When pressing the network buttin on the copier control panel, the screen says' Shutting down please wait' but I think the copier can't see the print controller. . .

    Thanks

I believe the missing pwb is for faxing. This is an older model and all the connections are internal. If the print button on the screen does not come up I would check the big box on the back and make sure everything is connected. This slides into a big plug at the top and that communicates to the machine. Check the hard drive and see it it works. I would plugg a monitor into the port on the back and see if it comes up or errors out. If it errors out then reload/replace the hard drive. The reload and reboot can take upto 2 hours to fully complete. after that around 45 minutes from turn on to get it to up to operating mode.

      Thanks!

Does the hard drive come with the software installed?

If so what are the part number?

any small (less than 10 gig) drive will work. then you need 2 cd's to reload. The only other way is to order a preloaded hard drive from Toshiba ($400.00+ US dollars), if they still carry one.
With the cd's you put in the partition cd then when that comes out you insert the recover cd then wait about 45 minutes then when that is done you turn of power and wait 2 minutes then turn on. This will take 30-60 minutes to run the restore then it may need to reboot again. after that it takes between 15 and 30 minutes to come up to run mode.

I had a fellow tech take all day to redo this on one machine before it finally started working.

          Thanks Mr Spock!

Any idea where I could get the discs?

How do you interact with the installation? ie clicking on ok and other stuff? Is the port next to the network port a serial port for a serial mouse and the port next to that for a PS2 keyboard?

When you press the network button on the copier control panel, it says 'Shutting down please wait'. . . does it sound like a corrupted installation?

If I remember correctly (and someone will tell me if I am wrong) the one to the right is the ps/2 keyboard port the one to the left is a serial port for a mouse and the one up top is the monitor plug. The black thing is a "scan dongle" if the battery is in then scanning is enabled (for the NT version of o/s). With the unix (I think it is technically lynx version) then the dongle is not needed for scanning.
You can try turning off the copier and unplugging it from the wall wait 5 minutes then plug in and see if it comes ready. If so then it may just be a corrupt file. If not then a reload and maybe a hard drive.
the partition cd is about 200meg and the recovery is about 540megs so I would look for someone with high band width and see if they can send it to you. Otherwise a Toshiba dealer who can do it for you..

Just to add to Mr Spocks info... use an 80gb drive, a 10gig will be to small and is probably impossible to find anymore. There is a VGA port on the controller above the CD drive bay. Hook a monitor to this and watch the boot process. If the controller is running the old NT software, it should look like any other WIN 98/2k pc booting and you might get a HDD error or memory error that will help the troubleshooting process. If it has Linux loaded the process will be a litlle different, but any errors will be displayed. From my experiance, you have a corrupted HDD. Re-loading the software will probably help, but once the HDD starts to fail it is better to go ahead and replace it, and load the latest Linux software. This will support at least through Vista and will give the GL1010 scan to email and SMB scanning. Without a monitor, you can try this.... unplug the mfp from the outlet, wait 1-2- min, plug in and start the copier. When it comes to ready push the print/scan button and if LDC display says "push start to start controller" go ahead and push start. On the controller, locate the red and amber LEDs (you can see these from a small access port. or remove the rear cover. The red LED should be always on with power applied, and the amber LED indicates HDD activity. What you want to see is the amber LED flashing intermittantly, constant on or off indicated the HDD is not responding. I can get you the Linux parttion and recovery CDs and step by step instructions if you need them. PM me for details. Emujo
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

Just FYI when you do get it printing there is no Windows 7 driver for the e45s. I think the Vista will work as long as it is 32Bit, but if you are running 64bit I have had to use the Universal PCL driver. Maybe someone else has a better solution. XP or older and you are fine.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

                  Preloaded drive

I purchased a preloaded drive but that doesn't work as it give me a "Verifying DMI Data Pool..." and never boots. In addition I was told that I also needed the 2 CDs to make it boot. Is this correct?

                  Thanks

have you used version 2.3.9.14? this is version for win vista but i don't know it is used with 32bit or 64 bit.
i think versions 1.42- 1.5.69 be written by win NT but v2.1.2.5 - 2.2.6.7 (latest for xp) by linux.

Yeah! mr Spock is right . with v 2.1.2.5 - 2.2.6.7 needn't dongle scan but dongle can be used by fax from computer.
