have a side job for a customer on an 810 he crossed the wires when replacing the fuser namely the heater core wires that go in the ffront of the fuser on the board. I reset the code and get a copy but its not a copy its like no developer and has degraded from what it started at. I ran tests on all the motors, I changed the laser, when I run low end developer bias check, it freezes the machine?? all other bias check out.. changed the charge wire... have a parts machine to work with ... i am leaning towards a board but which one? drum rotates ok... have a pile of developer in front of the drum.. not getting rotation on the developer motor in testing but it looks like it rotates uring copy sequence.. maybe one of the 100 fuses?? or a board?? the print controller works and send the same resulting image as copying does. any help would be great/

There is a drive gear on the developer unit that has a d-shape to hold it to the shaft instead of a pin. It gets rounded and loses drive. Mag roller does not turn or does not turn up to speed. Very common issue. Symptoms are completely washed out copies or just about blank copies. Check out the gear and once you see how small they made the flat spot, you will wonder how it lasts at all! Make sure the dv unit is not binding or it will take out the new gear in no time. -
so you think its a gear not an electrcal issue? this guy crossed the main wires. I guess I assumed it had to shut something down. of course the devel bias test on the low end freezes the machine thats something as well. I will check the gear. thanksComment

I have seen the gear wear out like described, but what I want to know, is how did he cross the wires on that fuser PWB, the leads are color coded as I recall, both Sharp and Toshiba versions are, work on borh.
If the fuser is still heating, I'd say its OK...if not, look at replacing both the core and PWB of the fuser.
And do you realy want to do a side job for someone that tries to do his own copier work ??

I found one that had been crossed for quite some time once with no damage. I agree to look at the gear or sometimes the whole DV will lock up: worn out bushings, other gears, leaking seals with DV in bearings. IMO it's better to just swap out the whole unit if it's totally locked up and has more than 1.5M on it.I will not give you service manuals or firmware.Comment
